Welcome to Diamond Valley Arts Society

We are a community lead society that has been operating for 53 years. Our volunteer group operate a range of art exhibitions, demonstration, classes and workshops over the year. If you are interested in becoming a student or a member we would love to hear from you.

We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulan nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which we gather as an arts society, and pay our respects to their elders past, present and future. We extend that respect to any Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who may be with us on site today.

We have changed our logo.  Over the next few months you will see it being incorporated into all our documents, files, and social media including this webpage.  Thank you for being patient while this happens as both logos will be popping up in many places as we transition over!

May 2021

We have now officially moved into our new home at Edendale Community Environment Farm.

After discovering we needed to relocate from our rooms at Greensborough Secondary College in early 2020,  our committee members worked hard and long to find a suitable option that aligned with our values.

The complete shutdown due to COVID 19 in 2020 put a halt to the process and also meant we could not access our rooms at all.  None of us could get together, lots of us didn’t get to do any art, and all the annual events such as our Art Show and the Flower and Garden Show were cancelled.

However, our relocation team did not rest and continued to call and write and look at venues until late 2020 when we found an ally in the Edendale Community Environment Farm, who were looking for a like-minded organisation to take over the rooms in the old Homestead.

So, we moved most of our stuff over to the new rooms in Eltham a few months ago and started hosting workshops and classes around March.  We are also using a big room over at the Slovenia Club in Research for our Sculpture and Pottery sessions while we wait for a purpose build/renovated room at Edendale to house the kilns and wheels.

Addresses:

  • Edendale Community Farm – 30 Gastons Road, Eltham
  • Slovenia Club room – Slovenian Association Melbourne – 82 Ingrams Road, Research

We are still setting up the Class/Workshop roster, and as a few of our previous tutors and workshop convenors became unavailable during COVID lockdown, a temporary one is in place and is located on the ‘Timetable’ page.  This will be amended once we have updates and will format it nicely.  We are always happy to welcome new tutors or workshop convenors,

The rooms will only be opened if there is a workshop or class rostered, or if Edendale is having an event, and on those days we will open up for visitors to come an have a look. It is great if you also want to come along and meet us.
